Interlocking Driveway Toronto FAQ

Interlock is a system that makes sure pavers do not move from eachother. The reason for the strength of this system is the locking of the pavers. This creates a load to be stretched out over a big surface area rather than where pressure and force is applied.

The elements include a base, bedding sand, concrete pavers with sand in their joints, and an edging that contains the pavers at the perimeter.

Pavers actually do not tend to be slippery. Even if the ground is wet or dry, the consistency of the pavers gives great grip for both vehicles and people to be on.

Metal blades on snow trucks and plows may scratch the surface of the pavers. If you shovel the driveway, we suggest using a plastic shovel, or a plastic blade protector if plowing.

The suggested method to fix damaged pavers is actually to remove the damaged one, and put in a new paver. If the damage consists of stains, another solution would be to flip the stained side of the paver over.

If you would like to seal your pavers, keep in mind you should be resealing them every 3-5 years. This is recommended by us as sealing can wear out over time.

If the existing concrete is in good condition, meaning no cracks or decay, it is indeed possible to install our pavers on top. The concrete surface should slope away from any structures to allow for water drainage, and must have a drainage layer below the pavers.
